This outstanding old dessert wine is deep tawny in colour, with an aroma featuring wood aged rancio, elegant brandy spirit and hints of dried fruits and spices. The palate has a firm rich texture, with chocolate and caramel favours and a persistent aftertaste of nuts and rancio characters. The finish is balanced with fine spirit characters producing an excellent drying finish.
Looks like: Deep tawny brown
Smells like: A touch of oak behind dried fruit and spices. Coooomplex!
Tastes like: Rich and textural, dark chocolate and caramel flavours, enough said.
Match with: Hard and blue cheeses
Serious AWBS notes if you need them: Made by using the traditional solero system. Grapes are over ripe, stored in interconnecting barrels (solero system) and released after many years. Brandy spirit is added to fortify the wine. Smooth and delicious sweet and spicey.
